The play relates to an episode in the 2nd World War, in which the Germans left a number of captured Russian officers locked in the cellar of a hilltop monastery.
In 1981, the production toured to the Nimrod Theatre as part of the Festival of Sydney in January, and then to the Canberra Theatre Centre in March.
